All quiet here, we just had a LOT of rain!!
I didn't sleep through '87 - the entire roof blew off our house and I was woken by rainwater dripping off the light fitting onto my bedroom floor
We found most of our roof a quarter of a mile down the road the next day lol.

i just finished defragging and feel so much zippier now.
i was getting sluggish to the point that all my insides locked up.
I'm like Casper - clean my files and cookies, every other day, run virus scans regular and cleanup/defrag often.
I often wondered about registry cleaning but there are so many fake programs out there I wouldn't know where to start! And what benefit does that have anyway? I'd also be too scared of crashing my computer lol.

so from little britain i hope y'all respond and we can turn this into a nice chat.
In England, it's not 'grim up north' any more! Most of the mills closed down and we don't have thick smog now, we do see daylight and even sunshine occasionally! And most of the men don't wear flat caps or keep ferrets down their trousers!
As for language questions, why do Merrycans call crisps "chips" and chips "fries"? Here, (French) fries are merely thin chips (UK version!!!)!

Re "knocking you up in the morning" - this goes back to the days before alarm clocks and when folks had to get up really early to go to work in the factories and mills. Someone - a 'knocker-upper' - would be employed to go round the houses with a long pole so they could tap on bedroom windows to wake everyone up in time.

usually abused females end up neurotics and suffer from personality disorders, and more often than not, anorexic.

Neurotic? Nah!
Anorexic? Yes, I had a phase, but it was more a 'trying to stay in control' situation rather than a body image one. btw anorexics don't binge and puke (they might purge if they've been forced into eating something they didn't want to). Anorexics just don't eat...
Depression and low self-esteem? Yep - but thankfully I now have some coping strategies in place.
Perhaps as a nurse nlhc, you've only encountered the most serious cases - as actually getting treatment on the NHS for psychological problems (eg counselling by suitably trained people) is pretty damned hard - resulting in no treatment at all unless a psychiatric condition presents itself.
Soooo no I don't think you're being too sensitive Lee, on the whole, it was a pretty sweeping statement. Like Finally-free wrote, we're all individuals.
